CWCM (Central Wisconsin Cooperative Ministries) Meeting
May 5, 2015 + Our Savior’s Lutheran, Greenwood
The CWCM met at Our Savior’s in Greenwood on Tuesday, May 5, 2015. The churches represented were Our Savior’s, Greenwood & Emmanuel Lutheran, Longwood; Nazareth Lutheran, Withee; and St. Paul’s, Curtiss & Our Saviour’s, Holoway. Pastor Laurie Skow-Anderson was also present to answer any questions.
Discussion centered around two major areas:
1) Where Are We Going?
--Surviving for now but a future of sharing ministries
--Budget issues—getting to where we need to be for the future
2) How Do We Get There?
--the approach of taking “baby steps” now but also looking at what if a “crisis” occurs
--suggestion was made of members of the five churches getting to know each other i.e. visiting each other’s church, joint potluck dinner between all five churches. Progressive dinner or picnic, etc.
--How would it all work—administratively in particular
It was decided that in the minutes of this meeting as well as a two-month listing of the activities for each church, including a list of the worship times for each church, would be included in the June newsletter of each church. Two activities mentioned: 1) Our Saviour’s, Holoway, July 7th VBS with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes for ages 5-12, with a cost of $10 per child. High School youth are needed as helpers. 2) Emmanuel Lutheran, Longwood, August 16th 10:00 a.m., polka service and potluck.
A Facebook page has been established for the CWCM (www.facebook.com/7ChurchesforChrist) and can be found by searching on Facebook using CWCM. This was established in the fall of 2014 by Nicole Shattuck of Nazareth Lutheran. Those attending were encouraged to use the Facebook page as a way of letting others know of the activities taking place within each of the five churches by either posting pictures or other church related information.
The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 7:00 p.m., at Our Saviour’s, Holoway.
