Prior to the November 17 Sowing Seeds Lutheran Ministries meeting, the combined councils from Our Saviour’s in Holoway and St. Paul’s in Curtiss voted to table the approval of the contract for Pastor Kris Bjerke-Ulliman to participate in providing pastoral care and leadership for Nazareth Lutheran in Withee.
At the November 17th meeting, representatives from Our Savior’s and Emmanuel, along with those from Nazareth discussed how the working relationship could continue. It was decided to go forward with the responsibilities that Pastor Brian was going to undertake for Nazareth – leading worship, administrative duties and teaching. He would add leading any special worship services (funerals and weddings) as needed. The members of Nazareth would handle doing visits for homebound members.
This arrangement prompted the change in worship times for Our Savior’s and Emmanuel, and allow Pastor Brian to also lead services at Nazareth at 8 am on Sundays. These discussions also lead to the Combined Christmas Program service on Sunday, December 20 at 10 a.m. at Our Savior’s.
Beginning on December 6, worship times will change at Our Savior’s & Emmanuel. At Our Savior’s, worship services will begin at 9:30 a.m., with Sunday School Beginning after the service. At Emmanuel, worship services will begin at 11:00 a.m., with Sunday School keeping the start time of 10:00 a.m.
This arrangement is currently for six months, and will expire at the end of May. Discussions and evaluations of how it is going, and what should happen next will be ongoing.
